Farmington – William “Chum” Walsh, 75, a resident of Jay, passed away Wednesday, February 6th at Sandy River Center in Farmington, following a brief illness. He was born May 1, 1943 in Lewiston, the son of Gerald Walsh and Virginia (Latham) Walsh. He was a 1962 graduate of Jay High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1967. Chum worked at their family owned business Latham’s Service Station in Jay for many years. Following the closure of Latham’s he went to work for Big Apple in Canton, working there until his retirement in 2007. He married Louise (Dube) York on August 10, 1984, they enjoyed 31 years together before her passing in 2015. He enjoyed fishing, racehorses, hockey and especially spending time with his family. He is survived by daughters, Lisa Roy of Rome and Barbara Walsh Jensen and husband Brian of Brewer, stepsons, Greg York and wife Wanda of North Jay, Dennis York and wife Linda of Wilton and Jeff York of New Sharon, stepdaughter, Debra Keeven and husband Pat of Moscow and 9 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his wives, Judith Walsh and Louise York. A graveside service with military honors at Jay Hill Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
