Obituary for Wayne "Skip" Sampson

Wayne "Skip"  Sampson
Turner - Wayne “Skip” E. Sampson, 85, of Turner, passed away, Saturday, July 7th at his home, following a long illness. He was born July 1, 1933 in Turner, the son of Cleon Sampson and Margaret (Tidswell) Sampson. He attended Leavitt Institute in Turner. Skip proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On November 1, 1958 in South Woodstock, he married Edith Cox. He worked as a crane operator at Boise Cascade Mill later becoming Mead in Rumford until his retirement. Skip also worked rototilling gardens and bush-hogging in the surrounding area. Skip enjoyed going to the agricultural fairs, the cattle auctions and participating in the draft horse pulling, watching videos of Fryburg Fair horse pulling and he never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. He is survived by his wife, Edith Sampson of Leeds, his daughter, Penny Sampson of Turner, stepdaughter, Charlene Tikander and her husband Neil of West Paris, grandson, Max Tikander, brother, Arthur Sampson of North Turner, sister, Linda Gauthier and husband Robert of Turner, his aunt Doris Russell and her husband Lawrence of Turner, in-laws, Susan Cox and Goldie Sampson both of North Turner, Irene Buck and husband Merle, John Mason and Phil Quirrion all of Livermore, best friends, Wes and Fern Gordon, Dan Richardson, Tracy, Stanley and Jimmy Cram, Johnny Honeywell, Kelly Brann and Pat Kimball, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert Sampson, sisters, Joanne Magoon and Dianne Hammond, friends, Richard Kimball, Charlie Gordon, and Brann, sisters-in-law, Sylvia Quirrion and Eleanor Mason as well as several aunts, uncles and in-laws. Penny would like to thank Tina and Gary Ouellette, Bambi and Mike Farina, Suzi Cox, his housekeeper Linda, his VA Nurse, Penny and all the other family and friends that helped her and were there for her father. Sampson – Wayne “Skip” E.., 85, of Turner, Maine, passed away, Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his residence. A memorial service with full military honors will be held 11:00AM on Saturday, August 4th at the North Turner Presbyterian Church, 58 Howes Corner Road, Turner, Maine. Interment at a later date at Turner Village Cemetery, Church Street, Turner, Maine. Arrangements by FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
